Baby Scream

Secret Place
Eternal Sunday
In Baby Scream's new release (already their 8th!) titled Secret Place, Juan Pablo Mazzola and Co. (Herman Pascual, Paul Marcos, Claudio Salas) have come up with 10 songs of an overall pop-rock persuasion, clocking in at 25 minutes. Mazzola's fragile voice narrates a variety of stories, invested with a light pop touch, now tinged with a hint of reggae ("Cold Weather Reggae"), now with a country influence ("Secret Place"), but mostly with a velvety tunefulness, which, aided by the vocals, lends an ethereal dimension to each song.
The album cannot be said to contain a stand-out track, as was the case with the group's previous releases; yet I think that, for this very reason, the overall result is all the more balanced.
